Fair Share Livestock is an independent community project. Its first program, Fair Share Pasture to Pantry, is being developed as a 2027 pilot at the Anne Arundel County Fair Livestock Auction.
The project purchases market livestock from 4-H exhibitors, uses species-based target rates informed by prior auction results, and sends purchased animals for processing so the resulting meat can be donated to community food programs.
How it works
From auction ring to community food.
Purchase 4-H livestock
During the auction, Fair Share bids on eligible 4-H market animals using those predetermined target rates.
Process the animals
Purchased animals are sent to the selected processors and prepared for food donation.
Donate the meat
The finished meat is directed to community food programs, with pounds donated and total project costs documented.
